Direction...

I think my favourite style at college was in the style of Punk art, like that of Jamie Reid who created the artwork for the band The Sex Pistols. A lot of which was seen as controversial, which I like, as something that is controvesial tends to make people look at it more than once, stand up and take note.

Here are a few samples of punk bands album covers and gig posters, most of which have this 'cut n'paste' look to them.

The 3rd from last picture (above) typifies Jamie Reid's work. It has a message and an opinion even though there isn't much to it and this particular piece is Reid (who now lives and works in Liverpool)'s response to Liverpool being awarded the 'Capital of Culture' crown.
